It's a bit hard to get a good balance going on. The more I sew the less I blog/comment but in turn, you get to see more new things more often!
Anyway... so this is the lil darlin of a pattern I'm working on - specifically view B
The front of this dress is 1 whole piece which requires origami like folding to make it look like two pieces of fabric. Such an ordeal but it looks pretty good when finished
This is the piece below with the facings. There is like 9 steps to get that placket to close over.
Best not to try this part at 11pm at night like I did...
what is this even??? |
This weekend past was a long weekend. The boy and I spent Sunday ferry hopping around Sydney Harbour, visiting Cockatoo Island and then Watsons Bay and The Gap bluff. It was a gorgeously hot day and we didn't go to the right restaurant for lunch but it was a big and fun day
I also found out I'm going to be a bridesmaid at my friends wedding and she's letting me make the skirt portion of my outfit and maybe the flower girls dress. Fun!
And I'm already getting invites for Christmas parties later on in December (Cuba & White Christmas so far) so I'm going to have a bunch of fun outfits to sew up soon!
So yay for sewing right? I'm gonna attempt shorts soon! They'll just be a muslin so I'm ok if they don't work, but how awesome would it be if they did? Oh one can dream!
Lots of love to you!

I'm sure I have that pattern, can't wait to see it made up in the almost identical fabric. Its wonderful.
ReplyDeleteYour weekend sounded like paradise and Cuba for Xmas? I'd settle for the rum! x
It's such a close Fabric to the pattern isn't it? the dress is done, I just need to edit the photos!!
DeleteThat fabric is great!
ReplyDeleteIt's lovely, and so easy to sew with. It's a Repro Depot design
DeleteSounds tricky! I love the fabric that you've chosen. It almost looks exactly like the one from the picture of the girl on the pattern!
ReplyDeleteThe Sydney Harbour must be so beautiful this time of year, I've only ever gone in the colder months. And what an exciting time for you!
Yeah! I was so happy to find that fabric. I knew exactly what I had to use it for when I bought it. But silly me I only just bought enough fabric, so no left overs!
DeleteAnd yes Sydney is always lovely! Except for the crowds and tourist. Grrr
that fabric looks delightful and I can't wait to see how the origami like folds come out!
ReplyDeleteHaha I will certainly show it soon. Just need to edit the photos
Deleteamazing that you got the fabric so close to the pattern :-)
ReplyDeleteI know! That's like two in a row now! I like this idea of matching, but I also like being completely random with my choices as well
DeleteCan't wait to see the finished dress, I love the fact that the fabric is such a close match to the pattern x
ReplyDeleteYay! I just need to edit the photos. They will be up soon-ish
DeleteThe pattern and the fabric are a perfect match! You sound very busy, both right now, and with future plans, but it's all good, yes?! xxx
ReplyDeleteYes! This is a good busy! Earlier this year it was bad busy and very stressful, but I have clocked up many hours behind the machine lately. I could have driven at Le Mans!
