Me Made May week 2

Dear lovely readers, guess what? Monday was my bloggy birthday!

Hip, hip, hooray!!!!

Thank you for sticking around and listening to my nonsense this past year! I'm so darn excited and grateful to have you all popping by every now and again for a look. The frequency at which I post has definitely slowed down from those first few months, but I guess it was all very exciting back then, and it still is, I'm just such a busy little bee of late. 

I wanted to post this on Monday, but man I've been sooo tired lately after work that I crash out after dinner, I haven't sewn in about a week, but that's ok cause this weekend end is gonna be spent behind that machine!

I'm still prepping the pieces for my McCalls coat, which is taking ages cause I have to baste organza to each of the coat pieces. Cause I chose cotton sateen as the coat material it would basically be useless without some sort of under lining so that's what the organza is for! 

So anyway onto the me made's then? 

Last Monday I had a good idea of what I wanted to wear but I also had to go to a pretty important meeting so I pared down my look to be more office like, but not quite (as shown by the metallic shoes)

The me made is that white shirt you can see popping out under my jumper and favourite 70's Navy velvet blazer

Tuesday was a little more relaxed - I wore a simple shift dress made from this Spoonflower design

Wednesday was a two-for-one!

The top, which is actually a dress is this green silk lycra shift and the skirt is a plain black mini from this Burda pattern. I paired the outfit with my shiny green heels which broke after only being at work for an hour!! I had to fix them with a bulldog clip for the remainder of the day

On Thursday I wore my tweed smock made from Simplcity 5028 pattern, with a vintage cotton shirt

Friday I skipped MMM because I was feeling blah, but on Saturday I made up for it with the Bliss of Mrs Blossom dress

I had actually gone out with a couple of the Spoolettes to see the costume exhibit of Miss Fishers Murder Mysteries. Beautiful 1920s garments - coats, dresses, pyjamas, hats and more. All divine and absolutely no touching! I so wanted to look on the inside of the original antique garments and see how they were made but there was a volunteer in every room watching you with careful eyes. 

The exhibit was held in Old Government House in Parramatta park. On our way out to visit My Hung fabric down the street we happened upon some little flowers sprouting in the grass. They matched my outfit and someone suggested I go lay down it in. I didn't completely recline in the mini meadow - I just took a little sit down to have my photo taken and couldn't stop laughing at the situation - so there are a lot of photos of me with my mouth wide open!

To complete the week - this Monday I wore a me made tube skirt made from the Jenny pattern from Burdsastyle and a store bought blouse. I'm beginning to realise I need to make more tops and blouses - I have a few, but a lot of the store bought ones aren't really good for the cold weather
